University of Manitoba Clinical Learning Simulation Lab

This project included the development of a Simulation Lab within the existing Brodie Centre located at 727 McDermot Avenue on the University of Manitoba Bannatyne Campus. The existing spaces required complete demolition and replacement of flooring, ceilings, lighting, partitions, mechanical, electrical, life safety items. Considerable work was required on the two floor levels below to provide mechanical and electrical services to the new lab space.

The simulation lab consisted of nine examination rooms, new reception area, washrooms, lobby, staff room, control room, storage and learning spaces. The audio visual systems were quite sophisticated and required extensive coordination with the a/v supplier. The project occurred during the height of COVID and experienced impacts to material availability and inconsistent lead times to key components.
